Sensory Balloons

Today I decided to make sensory balloons for Pumpkin. They are so easy to make and very inexpensive. I wish I had tried this earlier. I generally buy sensory toys from the dollar store, but this turned out much better.

First I gathered things around the home that I could put inside the balloons. The possibilities are endless.. But this is what I chose:

In this picture there is flour, sugar, pom pom balls, play-doh, gazz-it, rice and lentils. Once you have everything you want to use, you need the materials to put together the balloons..

I used two kinds of balloons, a wide tipped funnel and straws (to push things through the funnel every now and then..). All you do is insert the funnel into the balloon and pour or push things into it.. Some things are easier than others.. But it's worth it! I recommend using two balloons to cover salt or sugar...

Guessing what is in each one

It was a huge hit with Pumpkin! She kept telling me how cool these were.. The great thing is you can use these for many games. They also make great "bean bags."

They are also great for sensory and hand strengthening during watching cartoons... :)

Hope this activity is a hit with your kids! :)

I love all the materials that you used. I've only tried this with sugar or flour. I do find that helium strength balloons work the best, to prevent rips.
